MFN welcomes membership application from microfinance institutions that meet the following membership criteria:
1. Be a leading MFI
or other institutions that work in
microfinance

MFIs which have been operating for at least 3 years, follow a commercial approach, with social objectives, and have reached financial self-sufficiency and scale of operations in relation to other MFIs in their respective country.

MFIs which have demonstrated leadership in the field in their respective region.
or
- Other institutions that provide technical and/or financial assistance to microfinance institutions. The number of these institutions shall be restricted to ensure at least three-quarters of the Network consists of microfinance practitioners.
2. Show strong interest in MFN activities

MFIs and other institutions that work in microfinance (hereinafter MFIs)
which are interested in learning from peer MFIs.

MFIs which are willing to contribute to the industry development as leaders of the industry.

MFIs which will be able to spare sufficient time, staff and budget for MFN activities: (i) 5 days of the CEO's time to participate in the annual conference - as well as covering their own travel costs and conference participation fees; (ii) another approximate 5 days of the CEO's time to participate in other MFN initiatives; and (iii) approximately 2-3 weeks (depending on the group) of several staff in order to participate in working groups.
3. Share MFN values
Please note that MFN annual membership dues are US$2,000 to US$4,000 (as of 2008), which cover a calendar year (from January to December). New members are asked to pay the dues upon pre-approval from the Steering Committee.
The membership selection process takes place once a year, from June to November each year. To be considered during this annual process, please submit membership applications by June 30. Applications received after June will be reviewed in the following year.
